Link Collection No. 3 ( Flash Games )

Pacman : The good old classic arcade games flash version. It's simple but still so addictive. If you feel retro click here to play Pacman.

GemCraft Labyrinth : This is a Tower Defense game...but not the one you would expect. Gemcraft is a unique TD with options like combining gems of the same or opposite types, leveling up, talent tree, a labyrinth full with stages, an option to make the stage harder by adding more creeps, faster spawns or to only spawn little and fast moving insects. If you like Tower Defense games than you need to try this out.

Flight : I don't really know how to call games like this. Basically you need to throw a paper plane as far as you can. While flying the plane can pick up boosts and more coins. You can use the money you earned to upgrade your plane so it flies even further. It's a fun game, if you want to try it click here.

Bowman : Set in a time when a bow and arrow was the best way to stick it to the man -- as opposed to playing silly games on company time -- Bow Man challenges you to shoot your enemy by calculating the correct angle and power of your bow. If you want to feel like Robin Hood click here.

Line Rider : If you haven't played this game, you haven't lived. At face value, Line Rider looks almost too simple, but after playing it for a couple of minutes you'll soon find yourself creating increasingly wacky and impossible courses for the brave slider. If you wish to make a torture...i mean relaxing ride click here.

Portal : Based on Valve's mind-bending Orange Box puzzler Portal, this platformer is a testament to the potential of the flash game. Vastly more sophisticated than most of the flash games you will have played before, Portal: The Flash Version is by far one of the best-looking flash games we've ever played. To try it click here.

Trollface Launch : This game is just like Flight but with a good old Trollface. The "Super-Upgrade" is the best...and no, I'm not trollin'...

Hope you enjoyed this Link collection, be sure to check back for more. :)

Defense of the Ancients [DotA] review

Defense of the Ancients (commonly known as DotA) is a custom scenario for the real-time strategy video game "Warcraft III" and it's expansion "Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne". The main goal of this map is to destroy the enemies heavily guarded structures, using units called "Heroes".

This game is the mother, father, and even the adopted son of of all the Hero Arenas. A lot of "DotA clones" are out there on the market right now, including League of Legends, Demigod and Heroes of Newerth. Even if DotA is old and Warcraft III's graphics are not the best people still play this map because of its originality. The community of this map is the most unforgivable. They do not like "newbies" and will swear and rage about them.

As in other RPG games your Hero can level up, buy new and powerful items from the several shops around the map, and get new abilities. Every hero has 3 basic abilities and an ultimate which is acquired at level 6 and can be boosted on level 11 and 16 or with an item called "Aghanim's Scepter". There are also 2 runes in the river on each side. The runes can be any of the following: double damage, regeneration, invisibility, haste or illusion. They will spawn every 2 minutes replacing the runes on the map. You can store a rune for later use with a Bottle, which can be bought at the starting shop for 600 gold pieces.

At the start of the match players on each side choose one of 103 heroes, each with different abilities and tactical advantages over other heroes. You can acquire gold and experience by killing computer-controlled or neutral units. This map is really team oriented, so one player can't carry his team to victory alone. There are towers on the road to the enemy hq, which can be destroyed for a good gold reward. The game end when one of the teams destroy the enemy base.

Torchlight review

Torchlight is an action role-playing game developed by Runic Games and published by Perfect World. This fantasy-themed game is set in the fictional town of Torchlight and the expansive caverns and dungeons nearby, which adventurers explore to collect valuable loot and battle hordes of monsters.

In Torchlight you have 3 classes you can choose from:
  • The Destroyer is a fearsome warrior, specialized in close combat, but he can also call upon the power of his astral spirits. Basically he is a Barbarian from Diablo 2 with a few magic abilities.
  • The Vanquisher is a marksman, she can easily kill enemies from afar with the help of her bow/rifle or dual pistols. She can also lure her foes into deadly traps.
  • The Alchemist is a master spellcaster. He gets his power from the Ember. His focus glove gives him the ability to shoot lasers and to summon powerful robots and other minions.
You also get a companion, which can be a dog, a cat or a ferret. Your companions can help you in combat, they will grow stronger and also you can send your pet back to Torchlight (the city) to sell your items.

This game is very similar to Diablo, but with really nice cartoonish graphics and a great storyline. The game drops you into deep water from the beginning. The first person you see gives you a quest, if you go 10 steps to the side you see a fight and when you help "Brink" he runs into a mine. You are asked to go inside the Mine, find Brink and help him put an end to this infestation.

All the characters have 3 different skill trees. You don't need to investigate points to skills you don't want. For example: if you want the Destroyers 2. ability but don't like the first one, you can just wait for the level requirement and learn that spell. This is a great way you can make your character unique and powerful.

The only bad thing I can find in this game is that it doesn't support multiplayer, and that the single player campaign can become repetitive after a while.

Here is a "Let's play" video we made for this game:

Diablo 2 review

Diablo II is a dark fantasy/horror-themed hack and slash, with elements of the role playing and dungeon crawl genres. It was released for Windows and Mac OS in 2000 by Blizzard Entertainment.

The first and only problem of the game is its low-resolution graphics and a few more gameplay problems, but the gameplay part is fixable via patching it. However it gives you a better gameplay experience, its more complex and much larger game than his younger brother. The actual gameplay consists of killing monsters to gain treasure and experience points. As the game goes on your character constantly gains more and more abilities and weaponry. Early in the game swarms of weak creatures are hurled at you. The game is so easy until the end of act 1, from there here are plenty of challenging confrontations after that point in the game.More experienced players may be bored early in the game because of the lack of difficulty, but they'll certainly appreciate the additional character development options. The most significant problem with multiplayer Diablo was that it was too easy for hackers to create powerful magic items and alter character attributes and other data files, since all of the game data was stored locally, on players' hard drives.

About the characters:

  • The Amazon - both primarily use bows, and both make equal use of strength and magic. The Amazon can also use javelins and spears. Many of her defensive skills are passive in nature, especially Dodge, Avoid, and Evade
  • The Necromancer - a death-themed spell caster. Summoning skills allow him to raise skeletons, create golems, and resurrect dead monsters to fight alongside him.
  • The Barbarian - is a powerful melee fighter. He is an expert at frontline combat, able to absorb great punishment. Enough said :D
  • The Sorcerer - She can cast ice, lightning and fire spells. The strong point of the Sorceress is her damaging spells and casting speed; her weakness is her relatively low hit points and defense
  • The Paladin - His skills are split into Combat Skills, Defensive Auras, and Offensive Auras. His auras have a range of abilities, such as increasing damage, or resisting magic attacks, or boosting defense. The Paladin's auras affect all party members.
More info about the expansion coming soon, so as always "Stay awhile and listen"

Toribash review

Toribash is a turn-based tactical martial arts fighting game using ragdoll physics. It was a "Best Game Idea" finalist at the 2006 Swedish Game Awards.

The game is played by relaxing, holding, extending or contracting the various joints on your character and hitting the spacebar to advance time by a user-specified amount, the default being ten frames. When properly manipulated, one ragdoll will strike the other, and if enough damage is inflicted with a single blow, a limb or body part may be dismembered, or fractured. Through careful manipulation of the ragdoll's joints, arbitrarily complex attacks can be performed.

The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible during a fight by landing blows on the opponent's ragdoll, with points being awarded based on the amount of damage inflicted.

In most modes of play, another means of winning is causing the opponent's disqualification. This occurs when a disallowed body part (normally any part beside the hands, feet and wrists) touches the ground, or when any body part touches the ground outside the boundaries of a square or circular dojo.

My personal opinion of this game is: a hardcore ragdoll type of ass beating game. You really need to think what joint are you going to move. The simplest way to create a move is to hold all joints and only move with one or two, it will look robotic and silly but its very effective. If you mastered the game you can try more realistic looking moves, using all joints, extending and contracting constantly. The game demands the using of the toribash forums. The Begginers Sanctuary is the best path to choose if you just started to play. Get known with the forums, watch out for upcoming tourneys and play safe :)

Audiosurf review

Audiosurf is an award-winning puzzle/rhythm hybrid game created by Invisible Handlebar, a personal company created by Dylan Fitterer. Its track-like stages visually mimic the music the player chooses, while the player races across several lanes collecting colored blocks that appear in sync with the music.

Basically you fly your spaceship thingy on the song and you collect little colored bars. If you want a relaxing easy ride you can choose to play a slow song. If you wish to play a bouncy faster but still not hardcore track you can search up a DnB or Dubstep type song. But if you are a metalhead and want to get rough choose a song from Dragonforce.

There are 3 types of "ships": casual , pro and elite. In these are 14 ships in total , 3 easy , 6 medium and 5 hard ones , and all of them have different special abilities.

There is also a scoreboard to every song , so you can compete with other players from all over the world or your country.

You can navigate your ship with your mouse or by using the "1,2,3" buttons.

All the characters have different play styles. For example, in the "Mono" game mode, players must collect the blocks, regardless of their color, and avoid the grey blocks. If the player can avoid the grey blocks until the finish, a 30% bonus will be gained in addition to the sum of the points earned.

You can also make clusters of 3 or more of the same color for a score bonus. Bigger clusters mean more points. A 25% bonus will be awarded for a "Clean finish". Clean Finish is a bonus that can be acquired at the end of a song by completing the song without any blocks in your grid.

Bloodline Champions [BLC] review

Bloodline Champions is an arena-based free to play PvP game developed by the Swedish company Stunlock Studios and distributed by Funcom using Microsoft XNA. It won the "Game of the Year" and "Winner XNA" in the Swedish Game Awards 2009.

The players in this game are split up into two teams (Warm and Cold) with up to five players per team. The objective is different depending on the game mode, ranging from team deathmatch and capture-the-flag to map point control.

Bloodline Champions has 20 bloodlines split into 4 archetypes: tank, ranged damage, melee damage, and healer.

  1. Tanks are close-quarters fighters and specialize in defense and peeling—removing pressure from allies by putting equal pressure on enemies.
  2. Ranged damage have very low health and deal high damage from a safe distance. They generally have many ways to escape melee combat but are taken down quickly if out-maneuvered.
  3. Melee bloodlines generally deal the most damage but must be in close range and have slightly higher health than ranged damage bloodlines. They tend to have very limited ways to control fights aside from their high damage output.
  4. Healers mix defensive control abilities with respectable damage, but have very limited mobility and low health.
In BLC there are no items , no in game levels or anything that would make you better than your opponents , the characters are well balanced so the way to glory is in your skill , and team play.

There are also tournaments which are hosted daily. There is a "observer" option where players can observe the tournament matches.

You can buy new bloodlines [ characters ] with "Bloodcoins" or "Funcom points". Bloodcoins are awarded for participating in ranked or custom games , Funcom points can be bought for real life money.

There are also ways to customize your character look by buying outfits or weapons.
Players are awarded with "grades". These grades show how you play. You can earn higher grade by getting to a certain arena rating in solo , 2v2 or 3v3 ranked games.

Even if the game is F2p you can buy game packages which give you benefits like more arena teams , unlocked bloodlines with their weapons and outfits , a chat emblem , Funcom points , bonus bloodcoins etc. You can buy a Titan edition which is 89,99EUR and gives you all characters including the ones to be released , or you can buy a Champion edition which is 29,99EUR and gives you all the characters [except for 1] released till now.

Here is a gameplay commentary video:

All in all its an easy to pick up but hard to master fun game.
